Ceramic Regency Couple Toothpick Holder Vintage Red & White Made in Japan

This is a pair of miniature ceramic toothpick holders with a couple in Regency style dress. Both holders are white with a gold rim and gold border around the body of the holder. On one holder, there is a woman in Regency style dress holding up her wide, tiered skirts. She has lace sleeves and a high pompadour wig. The other holder has a gentleman with breeches, waistcoat, and overcoat. He is holding onto one lapel and has a George Washington style wig. Both figures have details in red and gold. Both are marked Made in Japan on the bottom.
The holders are in good vintage condition for their age and use. The gold details on both, especially on the holder part, have started to fade or are missing paint. The features of both figures have smoothed somewhat. There are no chips or cracks.
The holders measure 2 inches tall. They are about 2.25 inches long at the base and about 1.5 inches wide.
