Octagon Framed Hand Colored Gravure Prints with Reverse Painted Glass Vintage Possibly Antique Leo Maxwell Co Set

This is a set of two gorgeous hand-colored gravure prints in an octagon frame with reverse painted glass. Both prints have a black wood frame with inset gold glass panels. The glass of the frame is reverse painted with gold marbled with black and a border of white flowers forming a circle in the center of the frame. The prints are featured in this circle. According to the labels on the back, one print is of Loch Maree and Steuch Mountain in Ross-shire from near the resting tree looking North. The other is of Thun with the Bernese Alps. This label has a printing date of 1834, however, both prints also have a typewritten label for the Leo Maxwell Co, and the typewriter didn't come into fashion in offices until the late 1880s. In other words, I'm not sure when these were made, but they definitely have an antique Victorian look to them! Both prints have blue tissue like paper with small silver and gold geometric motifs covering the back. Both also have metal o-rings and picture wire to hang the frames.

The prints are in good vintage condition for their age and use. The print of Thun with the castle has all the glass insets, but one is cracked and one is missing a triangular section. The rest of the glass is clear, and the rest of the frame is intact with no chips to the wood. The print of Ross-shire only has two remaining glass inset panels, both intact. The rest of the frame is solid with no chips, but there is glue stuck to two panels where the glass is now missing. The rest of the glass is clear. The painting on both frames is intact with no missing or chipped paint. The prints are in excellent condition with no fading or discoloration. The paper on the back is faded and has small tears and holes along the edges. The labels are yellowed, as is the tape. The picture wire and o-rings are solidly attached.

The frames are 7.75 inches across by 7.75 inches high. They are 1.25 inches deep.
