This is a vintage valet or barber's brush. It has a ceramic German Shepherd handle. The dog has upright ears with a red painted mouth and a black collar. The handle is marked 3577 Germany on the back and looks to be hand painted. The brush has light blond bristles in a shaving brush style. It has a white linen string or shoelace wrapped around the top where the head meets the brush. Below that it has a thin olive green cord wrapped around to hold the bristles together.
The brush is in great vintage condition for its age and use. The dog has some small areas of missing paint, but otherwise, he has no chips or cracks and his glaze is still shiny. He is still attached to the brush but a little wobbly on the top. The string and cord have staining and discoloration. The cord has detached at the end with about 3 inches unraveled. The bristles are tight with some minimal fraying.
The brush measures 7.5 inches tall. It is 3 inches wide at its widest point.
