This is a small leather covered jewelry or valet box. It is a deep burgandy brown leather with gold embossed details on the lid. The lid has two small horizontal lines - one scalloped and one straight - going across the top and bottom quarter of the lid. The center of the lid is decorated with the initials VP and the date 1947. The interior of the box is brown felt. There is no makers mark on the bottom.
The box is in fair vintage condition for its age and use but has a lovely patina. The leather is scratched all over with wear to the corners and edges. The leather is beginning to flake away at the corners. The lid is still attached at the left corner but is detached the rest of the way. The video shows this off best. It looks like someone colored on the felt on the lid, and there is a scratched in drawing on the felt on the bottom. Please see photos!
The box measures 5 inches long by 3.25 inches wide. It is just over 1.5 inches tall.
