This is the antique 1922 edition of The Ranger Boys and the Border Smugglers by Claude A. LaBelle, published by the A.L. Burt Company. This edition has slate gray covers with an illustration of the Ranger Boys on the front cover in brown and green. The lettering looks like it may have been gold at one point. The spine is also illustrated with a Ranger Boy. There is one black and white illustration plate at the title page and several advertisements for other A.L. Burt series at the back. There are 225 pages.
The books is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear, especially to corners and edges, with fading and discoloration. The gold lettering has almost all faded away, leaving the black lettering underneath. W. Hemenway wrote their name in pencil inside the front cover. The spines are still attached at both front and back covers, but cracked at the title page. There are what looks like water stains to the first few pages. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 7.5 by 5 inches. It is 1.25 inches thick.
