This is the vintage 1927 edition of the Second Reader in the Child-Story Readers school book series, published by Lyons and Carnahan. It features a dark gray-blue cover with an illustration in black, red, and yellow of what looks like Robin Hood in front of a castle. The cover and spine are lettered in black. The inside front and back covers are illustrated with a blue and white outline drawing of a medieval castle and forest with animals and people. There are 9 sections, including folk and fairy tales. The book is illustrated with full color illustrations. There are 304 pages.
The book is in good vintage condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with some small staining and discoloration. Mary Ellen wrote her name in ink inside the front cover and potentially colored in the endpapers there with crayon. She did a nice job of picking out colors and staying in the lines. Marin Rimi wrote her name in pencil on the page facing the title page. The pages are yellowed; the color illustrations are still bright.
The book measures 7.5 by 5.5 inches. It is .75 inches thick.
