This is an antique tapestry covered handmade footstool. The footstool is made from dark-colored solid wood that has been cut and carved by hand. You can still see the tool marks on the underside of the both legs. The legs and sides of the footstool are nailed together with tiny flat head nails. The top of the bench is slightly padded and covered with a tapestry style heavy fabric. The fabric is nailed to the wood, also with tiny flat head nails. The fabric has an all-over pattern of leaves, flowers, and berries. A gorgeous piece!
The footstool is in good antique condition for its age and use. The top fabric has discolored all over making it a dark gray instead of the lighter fabric on the undersides of the footstool. The padding is almost all worn away inside, but the fabric itself is in good condition with only minimal wear on the corners. There are no rips or tears. The wood has tool marks and general wear. The footstool is solid with no wobbling.
The footstool measures 15.5 inches long by 8 inches wide. It is 8 inches tall.
