This is antique 1910 first edition of The Wild Olive by Basil King, author of The Inner Shrine. Published by Harper & Brothers Publishers, it was first published anonymously and later turned into a silent film. The Wild Olive features a green embossed cover with an inset full-color portrait of a woman leaning against a birch tree. The lettering is in gold on the cover and the spine, and the cover is embossed with olives and leaves. The Wild Olive has 8 black and white illustration plates, and there are 347 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The cover illustration has faded slightly but is intact. The gold lettering is intact but starting to fade on the spine. The covers have general wear with some wear to corners and edges and some small scratches. The cover is torn at the front spine about 2/3rd of the way up the spine. The front cover is still attached but has separated and is attached by the webbing. The back cover is still attached. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 5 by 7.5 inches. It is 1.5 inches thick.
