This is an antique pyrography portrait of a horse wearing a bridle. Pyrography is the art of decorating wood by using a hand-held tool to burn the surface. The portrait is round in shape with the horse's head in slight profile in the center. The portrait has a curlicue border around its outside. The sides of the portrait have been burned to look like dark wood grain. The back is marked Flemish 852 Art. The portrait has a small metal loop at the top to hang it.
The portrait is in great condition for its age and use. The wood has some general wear and discoloration but overall, the pyrography markings are still clear and dark. There is one larger area of discoloration spots to the mid-left side of the portrait. The hanger is still attached but the ribbon has started to tear along the right side. Someone burned "Merry Xmas" From May.... [Dec?] '09 on the back.
The portrait measures 7 inches wide by 9.5 inches tall, including the loop. It is half an inch tall.
