This is a set of 4 illustrated Signature Books from the 1950s, published by Grosset & Dunlap. The series covers American history for kids and this set includes Davy Crockett, Kit Carson, Ulysses S Grant, and John Paul Jones. They were published in 1952 and 1953. Each edition features a linen cover in either blue or brown with the signature of the famous person on the cover. The spines are solid colors with black and orange details. All three editions have illustrated front and end papers with a timeline of important events. All three editions also have black and white illustrations throughout. Each edition has 178-180 pages.
The set is in good vintage condition for its age and use. The spines are still attached, but Davy Crocket has started to separate at the back page. The covers have some staining or discoloration with the most wear to the back cover of Kit Carson. All four have either pencil or ink names inside the front covers. The pages are starting to yellow.
The books all measure about 8.25 by 5.5 inches. They are all about 1 inch thick.
