This is a ceramic barrel shaped biscuit or cookie jar that was made in Japan. The jar has a creamy white background with raised yellow sunflowers and leaves on the upper three quarters of the jar. The bottom quarter has a border of yellow flower filled hearts in between two light brown thin borders. The jar has a wider brown border at the top. The lid has a yellow flower knob with a brown ring border around the edge and knob. In between is a ring of yellow flowers. The jar has two yellow flower knobs on the sides which hold on the rattan wrapped handle. The bottom is stamped Made in Japan in black.
The jar is in good condition for its age and use with general vintage wear. The glazing is crackled all over with some staining, especially to the inside bottom. There is one chip to the inside to the rim. There are no outer chips or cracks. The lid comes on and off easily. The handle has smoothed, but it lifts easily and holds the weight of the jar.
The canister measures 5.25 inches in diameter. It is about 6.5 inches tall, including the lid but not including the handle.
