This is the 1965 sixth printing edition of the first American edition of LaRousse Gastronomique, the encyclopedia of food, wine, and cookery. It includes over 8500 recipes and 1000 illustrations organized alphabetically. The book includes the original full-color dust jacket features a chef's mise en place. The book underneath has a blue cover with embossed fleur de lys and white lettering. The front and end papers are black and white photographs of French cuisine. The page ends are blue speckled. The books has black and white as well as color illustration plates. There are 1101 pages.
The book is in great vintage condition for its age and use. The book jacket does have some wear and tear, but the colors are bright. The book covers underneath are in like new condition. Elizabeth S. Hensley wrote her name in ink inside the front cover. The pages have minimal to no yellowing. The spines are still attached.
The book measures 8 inches by 10.25 inches. It is 2.5 inches thick.
