This is the 1924 third printing of Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales, published by World Wide Just Right Book Albert Whitman & Co. It was translated from the Danish by Carl Siewers with pictures in black and white by Joseph J. Mora and pictures in color by James McCracken. It has a dark red cover with a color illustration plate. The cover and spine are lettered in gold. The inside front and end papers are an amazing illustration by Uldene Tripple of a sun peeking over the clouds with two fairies chasing after a black bird. The book is fully illustrated with gorgeous black and white and red tinted color illustrations. There are 218 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with some discoloration along the corners and edges. The gold lettering has completed faded on the spine and almost completely faded on the cover. Cynthia Donahue wrote her name in pencil on the blank back of the front endpaper. The covers are attached at the spine. The pages have yellowed slightly.
The book measures 6.25 inches by 9.25 inches. It is .75 inches thick.
