This is the antique 1893 edition of Conversation on Some of The Old Poets by James Russell Lowell, published by David McKay. The book has dark red covers with a thin gold border on the front cover and gold lettering on the spine. The book is a series of literary criticisms of poets like Chaucer, Chapman, and others in the form of conversations between an imaginary John and an imaginary Phillip. There are 294 pages.
The book is in great antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear, mostly at the corners and some discoloration on the spine. The gold border and lettering are intact. The covers are still attached. The pages are yellowed. There is a short-hand library catalog code in pencil inside the back cover.
The book measures 7.5 inches by 5.25 inches. It is 1.25 inches thick.
