This is the antique 1903 edition of Achilles and Hector by Agnes Cook Gale, illustrated by Helen Maitland Armstrong and published by Rand, McNally & Co. The book has dark red covers with gold lettering and black detailing. The cover has two gold profiles of Hector and Achilles. The spine is also lettered in gold with a gold flourish. The book is illustrated with lovely Art Nouveau illustrations in black and white. There are full page illustrations as well as motifs and chapter headers. There are 165 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with fading along the spine and areas of discoloration the bottom front and back cover corners. Mis. Jone's gave Kenneth Specht the book. She wrote the inscription inside the front cover. There is also a pencil 25. The covers are still attached at the spine. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 8 inches by 5.5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
