This is a Florentine style dresser box with a hinged portrait lid and an interior mirror. The box is wood with small carved details. It is painted gold and blue. The lid of the box is covered with an etching of a man in Georgian dress handing flowers to a woman. There is also a greyhound and another lady with her back to the viewer. The etching is black on brown or gold. The lid has a blue border and is hinged. The underside of the lid has a simple mirror. The inside of the box is painted in gold with a black cardboard liner that looks to be a much later addition.
The box is in vintage condition for its age and use. The outside has general wear with fading and chipping to the paint and the portrait. There are no chips or cracks to the box. The underside of the box has been covered with cardboard and taped on. The inside bottom has been repainted with an orange and black Mondrian design, which probably explains the cardboard liner. The liner has curled up on one end and has fading and discoloration. The mirror has large areas of foxing and discoloration. All in all, the box is solid and has solid patina.
The box measures 10.25 inches long by 8.5 inches wide. It is 2.25 inches tall.
