This is the antique 1899 edition of The Antigone of Sophocles, translated by George Herbert Palmer and published by Houghton, Mifflin, and Company in the United States and The Riverside Press in Great Britain. It has a green textured cover with a black border and Greek lettering on the front cover. The spine is also lettered in black, this time in English. The title page has the illustrated Riverside Press logo. There are 100 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have minimal wear, mostly to the top and bottom of the spine and a white discoloration area on the back cover. There is a metal clip around the top corner of the back cover. This clip has rusted, discoloring the inside top left corner of the endpapers. Arthur L. Bancroft wrote his name in ink inside the front cover and then again on the blank page on the opposite side of the editions page. The pages have yellowed. The covers are still attached at the spine.
The book measures 5 by 7.5 inches. It is 1.25 inches thick.
