This is the antique 1918 edition of The Kendall Third Reader, published by D.C. Heath & Co. It features green covers with lovely Art Nouveau illustrations in darker green and black on the cover and spine. The book is a child's reader leveled for 3rd grade on. It includes Fables from Aesop, verses from Christina Rossetti, as well as The Night Before Christmas. It is fully illustrated with black and white illustrations. There are 292 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with some scratches, fading, and discoloration. The covers are still attached at the spine. There is a holly sticker inside the front cover as well as a badge cut out of the right facing endpaper. Kent McIntyre also wrote his name and 1937 in ink. There are some small pin pokes through some of the first half of the book. It looks like maybe a cat with long claws dug in. It also looks like some of the last glossary pages are torn out.
The book measures 5.75 by 7.5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
