This is the antique 1909 edition of Hawkins' Mechanical Dictionary, A Cyclopedia of Words, Terms, Phrases, and Data Used in the Mechanic Arts, Trades, and Sciences by N. Hawkins, M.E. and Associates and published by Theodore Audel & Company. It has dark brown or black soft linen covers with gold lettering on the spine. The book has gilded page ends and an illustration plate at the title page. There are also illustrated ads at the end. There are 665 pages.
The dictionary is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with some staining, discoloration and fraying, especially on corners and spine edges. The gilding is still bright and shiny. Forrest A. Laurer wrote his name and two different addresses inside the front cover, including an address for Temple University. The back cover has almost completed separated at the spine at the inside back cover. The pages are yellowed.
The dictionary measures 8 by 5.5 inches. It is 1.25 inches thick.
