This is an antique edition of the New Century Library The Works of William Makepeace Thackeray Vol. IV. The History of Henry Esmond, Esq., published by Thomas Nelson and Sons. It has soft bound very dark brown leather covers with gold lettering and leaf decorations on the spine. The endpapers are very dark brown. The top page ends are gilt. There is one illustration plate at the title page. There are 556 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. It has wear to the covers especially to the corners and spine edges. The spine has started to separate at the top and bottom front. The gold lettering is still bright. The gilt has tarnished somewhat. The covers have started to separate at the title page. E.W. Brown Jr. wrote his name and the date - March 1915 - on the blank page before the title page. The pages have yellowed slightly.
The book measures 4.5 by 6.5 inches. It is half an inch thick.
