Cottage Print Wood Box with Hinged Lid

This is a wood box with a river scene and cottage print on the top. The box is dark wood with dovetail joints and a hinged lid. The front has a brass class to close the box. The lid is hinged with a cottage scene picture on the top. The scene shows a cottage to the right with a river next to it. The middle of the print has large autumn trees on the river bank with a walking path next to it. The inside of the box is plain wood.

The book is in vintage condition for its age and use. The box has general wear with areas scratches, staining, and discoloration. The wood and image on the top have darkened, giving it a lovely, moody patina. The print has crackled and there are two missing areas of print in the top corner. The hinges are attached without nails, and the right top part of the hinge can slip out of the grooves. It easily goes back in. The lid opens and closes easily. I think at one point it may have had feet on it, as there are faded areas on the bottom and 4 nail holes, but no feet!

The box is 9.25 inches long and 5.5 inches wide. It is 3 inches tall.
