This is the 1921 edition of Modern Verse, published Henry Holt and Company. It has green covers with brown lettering and borders. Both front cover and spine have a small decorative flourish. The book has both British and American poetry and includes famous poets like Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Joyce Kilmer, Sigfried Sassoon, and more. There are 281 pages. A cutout of the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi has been tucked in the pages.

The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear, mostly to corners and spine edges. The spines are still attached at the covers. Virginia Schwartz wrote her name in ink inside the front cover and Helen Stigall crossed it out and wrote her name instead. There are multiple pencil notes throughout the book. The pages are yellowed.

The book measures 7.5 inches by 5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
