This is a wood bread basket with the Lord's Prayer carved in the center. The bread basket tray is made from solid wood and has scalloped sides and two inset handles. In the center of the tray, the line, "Give us this day our daily bread," from the Lord's Prayer is inscribed in a circular border that surrounds medieval style farmers harvesting shaves of wheat. The bread basket tray has a solid footed bottom.
The tray is in good vintage condition for its age and use. It has some discoloration to the edges, and the center motif has what looks like potentially flour stuck in the letters. There is some chipping to the bottom left corner and side of the rim of the basket.
The basket tray measures 17.5 inches by 7 inches. It is 2.5 inches tall.
