This is a pyrography-decorated wood box designed to hold gloves. Pyrography is the art of decorating wood by using a hand-held tool to burn the surface. The top is decorated with a bird on a branch with leaves. The sides of the lid and sides of the box are decorated with a cross-hatch design on top of which are leaves, flowers, and branches. The lid is hinged with brass hinges and a brass clasp closure. The inside and bottom of the box are plain wood.
This box is in good vintage condition for its age and use. It has general wear all over, especially to corners and edges. The top has discoloration to the top left corner and the edges. The box opens and closes easily, but the clasp closure does stick slightly.
The box measures 4.25 inches wide by 11.75 inches long. It is 2.5 inches tall.
