This is a bronze Madonna & Child relief sculpture. The sculpture is three-dimensional featuring the Madonna or Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child. The Madonna is standing on a crescent moon on top of a globe with a serpent coiled around it. The piece is cast in bronze and is classical or Baroque in design with Mary's flowing robes, providing drama to the piece. There is no artist's mark, but there are three screws in the piece, so it was potentially part of something larger.
The piece is in good vintage or antique condition with general wear. The attached serpent or dog head is still attached firmly. There are areas of discoloration and tarnishing, including right about Mary's eyebrow and on her chin. The whole piece has an aged patina.
The piece measures 14 inches long by 7 inches wide at its widest point. It is about an inch deep at its deepest point.
