This is the antique 1890 edition of Florence by Augustus J.C. Hare, published by George Allen and sold at an original price of three shillings, according to the title page. This antique travel guide has black covers with horizontal red stripes along top and bottom. The cover and spine are lettered in gold. The endpapers are black and the page ends are red. The book is illustrated with black and white illustrations and there is one orange-tone map of the city. There are 236 pages as well as 6 advertisement pages at the end.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with some areas of discoloration and fading. The gold lettering is still bright. There is a bookplate inside the front cover and L. Lafferty written in pencil inside the front cover on the first blank page. The covers are attached at the spine. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 7 inches by 4.75 inches. It is .75 inches thick.
