This is the 1948 edition of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, translated into English blank verse by Lawrence Grant White, illustrated by Gustave Doré, and published by New York: Pantheon Books. It has dark burgundy covers with Dante's name embossed on the front cover. The spine is covered in beige linen with the title lettered in gold on a burgundy background with a gold border around. The book is illustrated with gorgeous black and white etchings by Doré. There are 188 pages.
The book is in great vintage condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear to corners and edges with some small areas of discoloration to the spine and back cover. The covers are still attached at the spine. The pages have yellowed slightly.
The book measures 8.5 by 11 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
