This is a vintage wood box covered in gold metal with a seascape watercolor under glass on the lid. The box is made of a natural colored wood covered all over in a pebbled gold colored metal. The edges of the box are brass with a push button latch on the front. The lid is hinged with an inset watercolor under glass on the lid. The watercolor is titled Whiby "The Harbour from East Cliff" and is signed Oilette. The artwork is most likely a Frank Rourke, published as part of Raphael Tuck & Sons Oilette series. The inside of the box is plain wood. The underside of the lid has an inset mirror in a heart shape with the same pebbled gold metal surrounding.
The box is in good vintage condition for its age and use with general wear to the brass and gold metal with some discoloration and tarnishing. The lid and latch open and close easily. The glass of the lid is cracked in the upper left corner. The inside mirror is intact with no chips or cracks, but it does have some foxing to the upper right part of the heart.
The box measures 8 inches long by 5 inches tall. It is 3.5 inches tall.
