This is the antique 1894 edition of Sevenoaks by J.G. Holland. It has deep burgundy covers with gold lettering and floral embossing on a dark brown background. The spine is also lettered in gold with floral decoration. The endpapers are decorated with a white and brown repeating floral pattern. There are 463 pages with several additional pages of advertisements.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use as an ex-library book. The call number on the spine is written in white ink and is mostly faded. There are Yampa Valley College stamps inside the front and back covers, as well as on the end pages. The covers have general wear with one vertical tear along the top back eighth of the spine. The covers are still attached at the spine. There is a torn book plate and the very top portion of a library due date card inside the front cover. There are library pencil markings on the title page and the previous owner made a couple of pencil notations throughout the book, including his dated review on the last page. They said it was a delightful story.
The book measures 6.75 inches by 4.75 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
