This is a walnut wood picture frame with an antique portrait. The frame is carved from a solid piece of walnut. The frame opening is oval and lined with brass. There is also a larger brass decorative hoop at the top of the frame. The frame has a glass cover and is attached to a grosgrain ribbon covered backing. The frame has a small brass hoop on the back to hang the frame as well as a kickstand to set the frame upright on a table. The frame will fit 3 x 4 inch items and currently has a black and white cabinet card photograph inside. The portrait is of a young girl in a white dress, probably from the 1900s-1910s.
The frame is in excellent vintage condition for its age and use. The wood is intact and still glossy. There is an original dent to the wood to the right upper center. The portrait is in excellent condition. The brass loops are attached solidly. There is a brass tab at the bottom of the frame that I think is to take the photo out, but I have not figured out how to make it work. The top quarter of the backing is nailed down, and the kickstand is still attached and works well.
The frame measures 6.5 inches long by 5.5 inches wide. It is about 1 inch thick.
