This is a Victorian era celluloid cover photo album with a lovely Gibson Girl portrait print on the front and light green celluloid to the back. The album has a celluloid cover featuring Art Nouveau style embossed black line flowers for the border around the central full color portrait. The girl in the portrait is walking through the Spring flowers wearing a pink and white dress. The spine is covered in black velvet, and the back is light green celluloid. The pages have gilt edges. The inside pages are thick to accommodate large cabinet cards. The pages are blue with gold borders. Some of the openings have square edges and some have a rounded edge.
The album is in fair antique condition for its age and use, and is being sold as is. The cover is still bright, but there are multiple areas along the edge where the celluloid has cracked and begun to flake away. There is a rip to the velvet along the top part of the spine. The gilt edges have mostly faded. The locking mechanism is missing. The cabinet card pages have some staining, tears, and missing pieces. It looks like someone may have tried to repair the album at some point because the inside endpapers are both bright white. The cabinet card pages are all attached together but the entire section is detached from the album. Please see photos!
The album measures 10.5 inches tall by 8.5 inches wide. It is about 1.5 inches thick.
