This is an antique original signed photograph of Mt. Rainier by M.L. Oakes. The photograph shows Mt. Rainier in the distance with a striking pine tree in the foreground. It is matted on cream paper and labeled Mt. Rainier. It is also signed M.L. Oakes, both in pencil. The photograph is framed in a simple wood frame with a brass loop at the top. The back is covered in paper with a Wunderly Bros. Pittsburg PA sticker. The frame is nailed together. M.L. Oakes is Mortimer L. Oakes, a postcard photographer active in the Washington area from 1907-1910. Wunderly Bros. spelled Pittsburgh without the H on the label until 1911. These dates make this a true antique photograph!
The photograph and frame are both in great antique condition for their age and use. The frame has general wear with some very slight scratches and or discoloration. It is still nailed together tightly. The glass is clear. The brass loop is tarnished. The photograph has some shiny areas where the chemicals are starting to discolor. There is discoloration to the mat. The back is missing a lot of its backing paper around the edges.
The photograph measures 11 inches long by 6.5 inches wide. It is half an inch thick.
