This is an antique John Dimmock & Co Crown Albion biscuit jar with lid. It is cream colored with a faience glaze that has been painted with blue and pink flowers and butterflies. It has a gold lid with white knob. The lid is a later addition is not the original lid for the biscuit jar. The lid is Griffart and is plastic with a white knob. It was probably a tobacco jar lid before it finished off this biscuit jar. The bottom of the biscuit jar is marked Crown Albion with the John Dimmock & Co logo. The logo dates the pottery part of the jar to 1862-78.
The biscuit jar is in good antique condition for its age and use. As mentioned previously, it has a vintage lid and not the original lid. The biscuit jar has two chips around the top edge. The painting is still bright and intact. The biscuit jar does have general wear with some discoloration and small scratches. The inside has crackling with staining to the crackle lines. The bottom has a hairline crack in the shape of an x, but the crack is minimal enough that it has not gone all the way through to the inside. There is also another hairline crack to the edge of the jar above the pink butterfly.
The jar measures 4.5 inches in diameter at the top and bottom. It is 5.75 inches tall without the lid.
