This is an antique German language Bible published by Concordia Publishing. It has brown covers with gold lettering on the front and spine. The covers are embossed with decorative borders, floral motifs, and a eucharistic chalice on the back. The front cover has a gold cross with lily flowers. The endpapers are decorated with a repeating pattern of green lines in small rectangles. There is a section of notes at the front to record births, marriages, and deaths. The pages have gilt ends. Each Testament is numbered separately. There are also 3 color maps of the Sinai Peninsula, Palestine, and other important areas in the Middle East.
The Bible is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with fraying to corners and edges. The gold lettering has almost all faded away. There is staining and discoloration to the covers. The covers are still attached at the spine. The pages are slightly yellowed but the gilt ends are still bright. There is one ink inscription on the first Kinder page recording the death of Mary Lou who was born on Dec. 18th 1928 and died 4 1/2 days later. She was only 2 pounds, 4 ounces.
The Bible measures 7.5 by 5.5 inches. It is 2.5 inches wide.
