This is an antique edition of Past and Present by Thomas Carlyle, published by Hurst & Company. It has gray-beige covers with silver detailing with florals and flourishes. The spine is also lettered and decorated in silver. There are 403 pages.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with some discoloration and staining. There is one small tear on the spine in the bottom floral illustration. The covers are attached at the spine. Miss Agnes Ethel Austin cut slots inside the front cover to attach her calling cards. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 6 inches by 4.5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
