This is the 1911 antique edition of The History of Civilization in Europe by Francois Guizot, published by Cassell and Company. It has dark green embossed covers with gold lettering and botanical flourishes and decorations on the spine. The end papers are the same embossed decoration from the cover, also in green. There is a portrait plate of Guizot at the title page. There are 333 pages.
The book in in good antique condition for its age and use. It has general wear to the covers with some staining and slight fraying to the corners and spine edges. The gold lettering is intact and bright with only very minimal fading. There are multiple pencil inscriptions inside the front cover. The book also has pencil notations throughout. The portrait page has separated from the spine. The pages are yellowed with some foxing.
The book measures 7 by 4.75 inches. It is .75 inches thick.
