This is the antique 1905 edition of Fifty English Classics Briefly Outlined by Melvin Hix, published by Hinds, Noble, & Eldredge. It has dark green covers with gold lettering and three gold flowers on the top of the front cover. The spine is lettered in gold with a gold flower. The book gives a summary of 50 classic pieces of literature, like Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Each section is paginated separately.
The book is in good antique condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear with fraying to corners and edges. The gold lettering on the cover and spine is intact and bright. There is a book plate on the inside front cover. Janet L. Young also wrote her name in ink. The covers are attached at the spine. The pages are yellowed.
The book measures 7.5 by 5 inches. It is 1 inch thick.
