This is the 1868 edition of The Works of William Shakspere, edited by Charles Knight and published by George Routledge and Sons. It has dark green covers with a brown leather bound spine. The spine is embossed with the title and publisher name. The inside front and back endpapers are dark brown. The book includes Shakespeare's comedies, tragedies, history plays, and poems. There are 762 pages.
The book is in fair antique condition for its age and use. It has wear to the covers with staining, discoloration, and fading. The lower left front corner of the green is frayed and beginning to peel up. The gold lettering on the spine has completed disappeared. There is a tear in the front endpage. The pages are browned with lots of foxing. The covers are attached at the spine but both are cracked exposing the webbing underneath.
The book measures 6.75 by 4.25 inches. It is 1.5 inches thick.
