This is the 1940 edition of The Complete Book of Games by Clement Wood and Gloria Goddard, published by Garden City Publishing. It has dark red covers with gold lettering on the spine. The spine is also decorated with the card suits, dominos, bowling pins, and chess pieces. The book is illustrated with black and white illustrations and diagrams. The book covers card games, showdown games (poker, blackjack, etc.), special equipment indoor games, party games for adults and juniors, and outdoor games. There are 894 pages.
The book is in good vintage condition for its age and use. The covers have general wear and the spine lettering has faded and dulled. The covers are still attached at the spines. There is pencil and pen notes inside the front cover as well as a bookplate. The pages are yellowed, and there are a couple of pencil annotations throughout. There are also pencil notes inside the back cover.
The book measures 8.5 by 5.75 inches. It is 2 inches thick.
