This is the 1947 edition of Heart Throbs A Treasured Collection of Poems and Thoughts Which Have Lived Through the Years in the Hearts of Americans, curated by Joe Mitchell Chapple and published by Grosset & Dunlap. The book includes the original red, white, and black illustrated dust jacket. Underneath, the book covers are red tweed, and there is an illustration of a heart on the front cover. The book includes 840 poems and bits of prose, quotations, and anecdotes. There are 636 pages.
The book is in good vintage condition for its age and use. The dust jacket has major wear with some pieces hanging on by a thread. It is still bright but with many rips and tears along the edges. The covers underneath are like new with minimal wear to corners and edges. The covers are attached at the spines. The pages are yellowed. There is a large ink inscription letter inside the front cover.
The book measures 8 inches by 5.5 inches. It is 1.5 inches thick.
